Her technology knowledge enables her to uniquely advise clients on risk management and minimization while also partnering with internal client teams to implement the plans critical to legal and regulatory compliance. She established her own firm in 2019 to serve companies seeking premier data security and privacy guidance with an action-oriented approach to managing risks within the evolving global legal and technology landscape.

hover textMWL Member Kristine Kubes, principal of Kubes Law Office, PLLC, Minneapolis, has been elected as Chair-Elect of the American Bar Association Forum on Construction Law, the largest construction law association in the world. She will serve as Forum Chair beginning September 2019. In this post, she will lead more than 6,000 Forum members who represent construction company owners, design professionals, general contractors, construction managers, subcontractors, suppliers, insurers and sureties. In the Forum’s 43-year history, Kubes is the first Forum Chair from a solo/small law firm and only the sixth female lawyer to serve as Chair. Kubes, a long-time member of the Forum and leader in several other organizations in the fields of design, construction, and law, will serve a three-year term. She has currently formed teams of lawyers across the nation to help carry out the Forum’s mission: Building the best construction lawyers. Together, they will produce legal education and professional development for construction lawyers to improve construction law and practice.

If you are a leader, or coach of leaders, this book provides a much-needed guide for navigating the oft-emotional practice of giving and receiving feedback.  Kathleen is an executive coach, gender diversity expert, and leadership consultant at The Marron Alliance. She brings a wealth of legal and leadership experience to the coaching field from her years as trial attorney, equity partner, and board member at Robins Kaplan.   A long-time advocate for intersectional diversity and inclusion, Kathleen has been a frequent speaker on topics including gender intelligence, conflict management, and emotionally intelligent leadership.  She achieved her BA and JD from U of MN, Master Coach credential from the Hudson Institute, and mediator certification through DRI. hover textCongratulations to MWL Member Judge Laura A. Pietan, who was appointed to the Tenth Judicial District Bench. Judge Pietan was previously the Deputy City Attorney for the City of St. Paul, where she lead the Criminal Division, supervising the prosecution units and the office’s criminal justice innovations. Previously, she was a Senior Assistant St. Paul City Attorney in the Civil Division. Prior to becoming an attorney, Judge Pietan worked in social services as the Program Manager for Apprenticeship and Nontraditional Employment for Women (ANEW). She earned her B.A. from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and her J.D. from Seattle University School of Law.

Stephanie concentrates her practice on a variety of employment law issues, including hiring, disciplining and terminating employees as well as wage and hour questions. Prior to joining Maslon, Stephanie practiced at a national labor and employment firm as well as a local boutique litigation firm.
