The 2017 MWL Conference for Women in the Law: Leading and Evolving

Request for Proposals:  Break-Out Seminars

Minnesota Women Lawyers is now seeking dynamic presentations and speakers for The 2017 MWL Conference for Women in the Law: Leading and Evolving, to be held on Friday, April 21, 2017 at the Radisson Blu Hotel in downtown Minneapolis.  Overall, the goals of The MWL Conference are to collaborate across MWL’s statewide community, to provide high-value programming of interest to our diverse membership, and to create meaningful networking opportunities.

2017 Theme:  Leading and Evolving:
Currently, the legal profession is evolving at a rapid pace. How can women attorneys not only shape, but lead this evolution? Join us at the 2017 MWL Conference to hear from leaders who are helping to create a legal profession that promotes equity and diversity.  Lend your voice to defining what women attorneys want and need from the legal profession.

Minnesota Women Lawyers is accepting proposals for MWL Conference breakout seminars.  Seminars are typically one hour in length.  The seminar format may consist of a single presenter, multiple presenters, or a moderated panel presentation.  Other format ideas are welcomed.  (Depending on the proposed format, the MWL Annual Conference Committee may be able to assist in securing additional speakers/panelists for a specific presentation.).

Proposals are welcome on any topic deemed of potential interest to The 2017 MWL Conference audience.  However, topics that qualify for CLE credit and that incorporate the following general topics/focus areas are of particular interest to MWL:

·Changes to legal practice that would encourage retention, promotion, and leadership of      women;

·Contributions to diversity and inclusion in the legal profession;

·Development of core competencies and/or leadership skills;

·Technological advances in legal practice;

·Attainment of leadership positions, both inside and outside of the legal community.

MWL welcomes the wide range of experiences and viewpoints that its diverse members bring to MWL, including, but not limited to, those based on nationality, gender, culture, educational and professional backgrounds, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, disability, age and generational differences, religion, area of practice and geography.  MWL seeks to foster and build a community of inclusion and is committed to individual and organizational efforts to build respect, dignity, fairness, caring, equality, and self-esteem.

Deadline for submission is Monday, November 28, 2016.
