MWL Elects New Board Leadership for 2016-2017

Minnesota Women Lawyers announces the election of officers and leaders for the 2016-2017 term beginning July 1, 2016.

Connie Armstrong will assume the office of president beginning July 1, 2016. Connie Armstrong is a litigation attorney who counsels and defends businesses, contractors and employers in contract, construction and employment matters. Connie’s first priority is understanding her clients’ business and objectives, she enjoys strategizing with clients and the challenge of working collaboratively to achieve successful results. Connie is a shareholder at Lind, Jensen, Sullivan & Peterson, P.A. and a member of the Minnesota Air National Guard, currently assigned as the Deputy Mission Support Group Commander at the 148th Fighter Wing in Duluth.


Kendra Brodin has been elected to the office of President-Elect. Kendra D. Brodin has joined the Minneapolis-based intellectual property law firm of Merchant & Gould, P.C. as Manager of Business Development. In her role, Kendra will support the creation and implementation of business development strategies at all levels of the firm. Kendra earned her master’s degree in social work from the University of Pennsylvania and her law degree with honors from the University of Minnesota.


Breia Schleuss has been elected to the office of Secretary. Breia Schleuss is a partner in the finance and restructuring practice group at Faegre Baker Daniels and represents commercial and investment banks, as well as other financial institutions and companies. She is also a leader of Faegre Baker Daniels' agribusiness finance practice.


Shannon Harmon has been elected to the office of Treasurer. Shannon has been an Assistant Attorney General in the Minnesota AGO Tax Litigation Division for the past years and worked for 5 years in the Charities Division prior to that. Shannon graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School in 2006 and clerked with Judge Marilyn Brown Rosenbaum in Hennepin County.


Bridget Nason will assume the office of the Past-President. Bridget McCauley Nason is a partner at LeVander, Gillen & Miller. A graduate of the University of Minnesota School of Law and Loyola University of Chicago, Bridget practices primarily in the area of municipal law, representing cities in both civil legal matters as well as criminal prosecution.


Kristin Haugen, KC Haugen Law.; Michelle Looby, Gustafson Gluek; Brooke Nelson, Bernick Lifson, P.A.; Sarah Rohne, University of Minnesota Law School; and Mary Szondy, Attorney at Law, were each elected to two-year terms on the Minnesota Women Lawyers Board of Directors. Amy Taber, Prime Therapeutics, was elected to a one-year term on the Minnesota Women Lawyers Board of Directors.


Susan Gallagher,Gallagher Law Office, L.L.C.; Michelle Grant, Dorsey & Whitney LLP; Veena Iyer, Nilan Johnson Lewis; and Jennifer Robbins, Robins Kaplan LLP, will serve the second year of their current terms.

The Central Minnesota, Northeastern Minnesota, South Central Minnesota, and St. Croix Valley Chapters of Minnesota Women Lawyers will each elect a representative to serve on the Board of Directors. Additionally, the women’s law student organizations at all Minnesota law schools will elect members to serve as non-voting liaisons to the Board.

Minnesota Women Lawyers is an association of nearly 1,300 attorneys, judges, law students, legal employers, and others who are dedicated to advancing the success of women attorneys and striving for a just society.
