Student to Attorney Mentoring Program 2016-17

MWL is no longer accepting any more registrations.

MWL's Student to Attorney Mentoring Program matches law students and attorneys in a one-on-one mentoring relationship based on student interest and attorney practice area. The goal of MWL's Student to Attorney Mentoring Program is to provide law student members with knowledge, advice, and support they need to successfully navigate law school and develop a fulfilling and meaningful career.

General Expectations

Law Students

MWL asks student mentees to commit to participating in events and meetings with their mentor and to be genuinely interested in taking advantage of the insights and advice their mentor has to offer. Take the initiative to get what you need from your mentor: contact them, ask them questions, and suggest activities that interest you.

We anticipate that mentors will spend about 10-12 hours on their mentoring relationship per year.

MWL suggests that mentors and mentees meet twice a semester. The student will be responsible for making initial contact with the attorney by November 11, 2016

Attorney Mentors

Given that student interest is very diverse, MWL welcomes attorneys with all levels of experience, in all geographic locations, and in all practice areas including non-traditional fields.

MWL asks that attorney mentors share knowledge and experiences, invite their mentee to learn more about their career, introduce their mentee to their professional network, and invite students to occasional one-on-one meetings or other legal events.

We anticipate that mentors will spend about 10-12 hours on their mentoring relationship per year.

Requirements for participation

Students and attorneys must be current members of MWL. Membership for law students is only $25!
View membership benefits and join or renew your membership online today.

If you are interested in becoming a mentor or a mentee, simply fill out the interest form at the bottom of this page.

Registration forms are due by October 7, 2016. Space is limited to the first 50 students, so early registration is encouraged. Once space is filled, students will be placed on a waiting list.

MWL will be making matches the week of October 10, 2016. Matches will receive an email with contact information and further information about the program.

MWL will host a kick-off event for participants to meet their matches. Further details will be provided shortly.

We hope you will take advantage of this wonderful opportunity.
